Help Us Grow Our Space, So We Can Grow Our Service!
For over 30 years, IVC has been helping older and disabled adults in our community, thanks to the generous support of many individuals and groups. We have been working hard to expand our services in order to keep up with the growing needs of our aging population. We have strong plans in place, but need some additional space and funds to succeed. So we are embarking on our first-ever Building Campaign, and we are hopeful that you will consider a special one-time gift at this critical time.
In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, we lost our donated office space and had to move to our current office, which is less than half the size. And while that worked out initially, during a period of largely remote work and few volunteers coming into our office, things have been back to normal for a while now and we have really felt this loss of space.
We have always worked hard to stretch all of our resources, because that helps us reach more people in need. And we have done our very best to organize and utilize this smaller space, but we simply haven’t had enough room to operate efficiently. We have been constantly moving and juggling supplies, projects and people to make space for what we need to do each day. And now that we have many more volunteers coming into the office each week, we often run out of a place for them to sit and work. Not only has this taken a toll on what we are able to do in the office each day, but this all results in less time to coordinate direct service. Simply put, with a little more space, we would not have to spend time each day moving stuff around and looking for spots to work, giving us more time to arrange more rides, schedule more chores and match more volunteers into helping relationships — more older and disabled adults in our community will get more of the help they need to stay in their own homes for as long as possible.
As has happened so many times in IVC’s history, a wonderful opportunity presented itself to us. As we yearned and prayed for more space, an adjacent suite in our building became available to purchase. Not only that, but the very generous owner agreed to sell it to us for less than a quarter of its appraised value! This rare opportunity will allow us to grow our space without having to move. If you have been through a move, you know it takes a lot of time and money. But with this plan we can increase our space by simply adding on, meaning very little disruption to current services and very little expense to move into the
additional space. We carefully studied this option and decided it was the most cost-effective way to increase our productivity, while also building for our future.
As a small non-profit, our resources are always tightly stretched, and we now need to raise some extra funds to cover the costs of this purchase. We are thankful for all the support we receive throughout the year, and we are asking for help from our generous supporters to turn these hopeful plans into reality.
